Where President Mahinda Rajapaksa went wrong?

Where President Mahinda Rajapaksa went wrong?
Posted on February 25th, 2016

Dr Sudath Gunasekara Secretary to Former Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike and President Sinhala Bauddha Jestha Puravesiyange Sanvidhanaya Mahanuwara 24.02.2016.

I have never had any relationship with President Mahinda Rajapaksa, either political or personal. I have made only one personal request from him through Mr Lalith Weeratunga his Secretary, whom I came to know as a Committee Member of the Sri Lanka Administrative Services Association when I was its President from 1991 to 1994. The subject my request to MR was a road to my ancestral village Meemure, which was never done in spite of my repeated requests. As such I have no hosanna to praise him either.  Any way I am not hasty to blame him as I do not know whether Lalith had passed on my request to him. I also failed to get even an interview to discuss this matter with him. Finally rather desperately I invited him to visit my village in 2014 to witness the pathetic conditions of this historic village and its people. My personal experience tells me that if  I had made a similar request to President Premadasa or Lalith Atulathmudaly I am hundred percent sure both of them would have definitely come and taken prompt action on my request and today Meemure would have been an entirely a different village. Was it my misfortune or the bad luck of my village and its people I do not know. In 2004 sept I wrote an article from America supporting him under the caption Who are the real enemies of Bandaranaike Policies” In that article I supported him to the hilt and I was the first person to have predicted his victory in 2005 Presidential Election. It appeared in the Island and Prabath, Editor wrote back saying Sir your piece went down very well. I do not think any other person would have done better” I also sent a copy to MR with a congratulatory message after the Election. But he never had the courtesy even to say thank you.

Nevertheless even today I admire MR as the most outstanding President and national leader of Sri Lanka in contemporary history for the following highlights among his achievements as a Head of a so-called poor Third World State.

  1. Winning the war against the LTTE terror, the most dangerous and savages terrorist outfit in the world acclaimed as undefeatable, and unifying the country after 30 years of terror, killing, mayhem and disaster. It is true that it was the three forces that fought the battle, died in thousands and won the war. But it was MR who gave the political leadership as the Commander. Had he hesitated, as all his predecessor Presidents, by this time Sri Lanka would have been definitely two countries? Not only he was determined to end it but he also openly declared his stance to the world as a real leader, thereby taking a very big risk.

2 He stood firm against India and the Western bullies in defense of this country and his people as a true leader and a patriot

3 He also kept the so-called Minorities in their places. He declared that there are no minorities and there is only one nation in this country, though he did not specify Sinahla as the nation

4 He adopted the correct and strategic foreign policy by aligning with China and Pakistan when there was none to help this country to fight the terrorist

5 He achieved a mission which even world powers like USA and Russia could not do

6 His achievements at Hambantota, the Harbour and the Airport

7 The vast network of infrastructure development all over the country, where the pride of place goes to the net work of super highways like Colombo-Katunayaka and the Southern highway he achieved while engaged in a massive an extremely arduous war

8 By defeating the LTTE he liberated the whole nation from terror, fear and death of hundreds of people occurring daily in every nook and corner of this country and brought peace and sanity and enabled a fear stricken populous to live freely after 30 long years of terror and uncertainty.

9 He never betrayed the country like those of the UNP in the ilk of JR and Ranil and even Chandrika

Even if he had done nothing other than winning the war against the LTTE and ending the 30 year war no one can dismiss him as a failed leader like Chandrika, a rainbow leader, who had done nothing for 11 years other than destroying all what her great and illustrious parents had done from 1956 to 1977. As such whatever his political enemies say, in my opinion he stands above all other Modern Heads of State in Sri Lanka as towering Himalaya. His place in Mahavamsa is already engraved in golden letters as a Great leader of this Island nation who followed the footsteps of Dutugemunu who defeated Elara in the 2nd century BC and Vijayabahu 1st who chased away Magha the intruder in the 11th century.

What is more is the 2009 war was a much more difficult task than the historical and conventional wars of the Kings in every respect. For example the art of war, the scale and the parties involved were poles apart. The historical war was confined to the land and they were fought between two parties only, south Indian intruders vs the native forces. Even the Indian Government was not involved in those wars. But the 2009 war was three dimensional and it used much more sophisticated weapons; in addition to the local LTTE Tamil terrorist the Government also had to face the whole world on their side Headed by India and supported by UK, USA, Norway and the entire Western block and the so-called Tamil Diaspora spread all over the world who provided large sums of funds and military assistance; India provided the training, armory, money and military advice and assistance against the Sri Lankan Government; they also barred the supply of military equipment to the Sri Lanka Government while providing enough supplies to the LTTE; in addition most of these countries provided military advice as well. Meanwhile the western block as well as India exerted pressure on the President to stop the final battle and USA had even secretly made arrangements to rescue Prabhakaran and top LTTE leaders before which the Sri Lankan forces eliminated the enemy at Nandikadal. Immediately after the war he carried out a massive development programme, unprecedented in history, in the North and the East having allocated the largest sum of money for any area thereby recording the highest rate of growth in the Island.

The way how the masses rallied round him and visited him at Medamulana after the election from all over the country like no other leader defeated in election anywhere in the world alone sufficient to judge his popularity as a charismatic leader. Isn’t that an authentic barometer of this man as a national leader?

Then why he lost the Presidential election?

In spite of all these achievements why did MR lost the Presidential Election. Most people attribute his defeat to external factors like conspiracies by International community and Indian RAW manipulations. But if you carefully analyze the election results you will find that it was the Tamil and Muslim block vote which actually changed the balance. In addition the JVP and new votes blocks were also critical factors. All these vote bases together with the UNP block vote determined to come to power after long years of starving upset the balance. It was not the popularity of the Common candidate which mattered. Even Ranil himself would have won it. For that matter any common candidate would have won it. Because more than anything else it was the ungrateful and revenge full Tamil and Muslim vote base that mattered in that election.

Although these were the major factors that contributed there were other factors which I think were even more important for MRs defeat. MR alone is responsible for all this which he earned mostly in the post 2009 period. I put them in to two categories as follows.

1 Blunders MR did which he should never have done as an elected Head of a State

They are

1 The arrest and imprisonment of Sarath Fonseka, the acclaimed war hero, and the way he was treated for the wonderful job he did as Army Commander to win the war.

2 The way Sirani Bandaranayaka CJ was sent home and treated for not supporting the Divineguma Act in spite of her supporting the 18th Amendment

3 The infamous 18th Amendment seeking election for a third time as the President

4 Failure to take actions against people like Mervin, Duminda, Mtuhettigama and many others who had committed serious crimes under his Government

5 Rampant nepotism like appointing his close relation with no professional qualification as Ambassadors  Chairmen of Corporations etc

6  Appointment of Basil a novice to politics, as  a senior Minister who messed up and betrayed the Kandyan peasants by scrapping the Kandyan Peasantry Commission and the Upcountry Development Authority that cost loss of all the Kandyan areas.

7 Above all going for early elections while he could have waited the full period during which time he could have mended some of the mistakes he did. (In fact on 2nd of Dec 2014 I wrote to him on this matter and advised not to go for early elections) But all that fell on deft years

8 His heavy dependence on occult science and believing people like Sumanadasa Abegunawardhana

9 Overestimated overconfidence and miscalculation of his vote strength and the mirage of trust he had on Tamil and Muslim opportunist politicians and inability to ascertain their hypocrisy in the correct perspective like all other Sinhala leaders in the post Independence period

10Holding the NPC and NEP council elections

2 Things which should have been done but he never did

1 Immediately after the war was over he should have scraped the 1987 Rajiv -JR Pact and also

abolished the Provincial Councils and all unconstitutional steps taken under the 13th Amendment forthwith, such as

  1. a) Giving unconditional Citizenship to all Indian Tamils on the Estates and
  2. b)  Making Tamil an Official Language

2 A Failure to abolish not only the Provincial councils but also the very provinces carved out by the British to   perpetuate their divide and rule policy to meet their strategic, economic and political colonial agenda

3 Failure to abolish the Proportional electoral system and the District MP system and to restore the previous simple first-past-the –post system  which would have eneured every electorate to return a member to Parliament

4 Failure to RE-establish the Tun Rata, Ruhunu, Pihiti and Maya, the most appropriate geopolitical division to this country as that was the time tested political divisions for almost nearly 2500 years. That alone could have put an end to Communal and divisive politics in this country and paved the way for permanent ethnic reconciliation and also saved 2/3 the cost of governance in this country. This proposal I had brought to his notice several times for the past 10 years

5 Dismal failure to sack Maitripala Sirisena from the Party as soon as he left to contest as the Common Candidate. Had he done it immediately MR would have still continued as the President of the party and would have even won the August elections and got appointed as the Prime Minister of the people. That would also have put MS in a precarious situation with his feet neither in SLFP or UNP either.

6 His failure to tell the world that this is the only Sinhala Buddhist country in the world and Sinhalese are the nation. And Tamils and Muslims are only two ethnic minority groups. Since he came from Mgama in Ruhuna, the land of the nation’s hero Dutugamunu, he had the legacy to do so than any other. In fact when I predicted his victory in 1905 Presidential Election  in an article in the Island under the caption Who are the real enemies of Bandaranaike Policies” I expected him to be a Dutugemunu reborn.

  • His failure to make Sirisena the Prime Minister at least on the second term
  • 8 Not listening to well meant advice given in good faith by the Mahasangha and people like Nalin Silva and me

9 Neglecting the Kandyan areas and allowing Basil to abolish the Kandyan Peasantry dept and ountry Development Authority

10 His inability to build up a single popular regional leader of  stature from the Kndyan  region who would not have deserted him in adversity and be an asset to him and the country at large.

11 Put the minorities in their places and declared this land as the Sinhale that was ceded to British in 1815.

Had he been able to achieve this agenda he would have definitely ended up as the unassailable leader who retrieved the pristine Lanka that was lost in the 13 the century and continyed as the nation’s leader for many more years to come.

Postscript

I have never being SLFP or UNP though I have been associated with the SLFP in my student days from 1956 to 1962, mainly due to the Sinhala Buddhist nationalism that emerged in 1956 under S.W.R.D, The Veyangoda Central College where I did my UP and my colleagues at the University at Peradeniya most of whom were from Central Colleges have exerted a tremendous influence during these formative years. But since I joined public service in 1962 I have strictly adhered to public service rules and regulations as a public servant though alternatively both UNP and SLFP have labeled me as a SLFP man or a UNP man whenever they were in power. This was mainly due to my refusal to grant their requests which were inconsistent with rules and regulations and often went against public interest. I always thought though it is a duty a public servant to carry out the policies and programmes of the Government of the day it was more important to do the correct thing in the interest of the public in the ultimate analysis. So in this mental frame work I had the courage to say no to people like Tamara Ilangaratna, U.P.Y Jinadasa, Gaminij Disanayaka, W.M.P.B. Disanayaka Chief Minister CP, Dharmadasasa Banda, Lalith Atulathmudali, Renuka Herath, Luxman Jayakody and even President Wijetunga over the years. Some of them got angry with me. But I survived and finally ended up as the Secretary to Mrs Sirimavo Bdaranaike, the first woman Prime Minister in this world, maintaining the independence of Public Service and proved that a public servant. Of all these political p[ersonalitiesI had my best relationship with Ms Bandaranaike, Lalith Atulathmudali, Gamini Disanayaka and Tamara Ilangaratna.

Why I print these few words here is just to tell my readers that I am not a torch bearer to any politician. These are my personal views as an independent citizen who is concerned only over my motherland, my nation and my religion.

JESUS CHRIST : EXPOSURE TO BUDDHISM

JESUS CHRIST : EXPOSURE TO BUDDHISM
Posted on April 11th, 2018

Dr. Daya Hewapathirane

The Silk Road was well established centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ, providing opportunities for diverse groups of people to share not only goods but also their ideas and knowledge, including their spiritual faiths. In Jesus’ time, Buddhism was already five hundred years old and had spread from India in all directions within and outside the Indian sub continent. The overland route westward was through Afghanistan, northern Iran (Persia) and Iraq and then branched to Palestine and Egypt and through Syria and Turkey to Greece. Alexander the Great travelled through the Silk road from Macedonia Greece to Northwest India

Historic evidence shows that by the 3rd century BCE, Buddhism has spread throughout the area from Mesopotamia to Egypt. Mesopotamia was a historical region in West Asia situated within the Tigris–Euphrates river system, roughly corresponding to most of present IraqKuwaitSyriaTurkey. When it was under the Achaemenid Empire, in 332 BCE, Mesopotamia fell to Alexander the Great, and after his death, it became part of the Greek Seleucid Empire. Around 150 BCE, Mesopotamia was under the control of the Parthian Empire. The empire, located on the Silk Road trade route between the Roman Empire in the Mediterranean Basin and the Han Empire of China, became a center of trade and commerce. At its height, the Parthian Empire stretched from the northern reaches of the Euphrates, in what is now central-eastern Turkey, to eastern Iran.

The Parthians largely adopted the art, architecture, religious beliefs, and royal insignia of their culturally heterogeneous empire, which encompassed PersianHellenistic, and regional cultures. Native Parthian sources, written in ParthianGreek and other languages, are scarce. Much of Parthian history is only known through external sources which include Greek and Roman histories, but also Chinese histories. The Parthian Empire, being culturally and politically heterogeneous, had a variety of religious systems and beliefs. There is some archaeological evidence for the spread of Buddhism from the Kushan Empire into Iran proper. It is known from Chinese sources that An Shigao (148 to 180 CE), a Parthian nobleman and Buddhist monk, traveled to Luoyang in Han China as a Buddhist missionary and translated several Buddhist canons into Chinese.

The Alexander Empire in 323 BCE, more than 300 years before Christ, included most of Greece, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and NorthEast India.  Records from Alexander the Great indicate a steady stream of Buddhist monks and philosophers living in his Empire which was at the crossroads of commerce and ideas, influenced the philosophical currents of the time.

The legacy of Alexander the Great included a collection of Greek kingdoms and trade routes from the Mediterranean to the places in central Asia and the stage was set for Greek spiritual practices to mix with Buddhism and become Greco-Buddhism. Two Greek kingdoms the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom from 250 to 125 BCE, and the Indo-Greek Kingdom from 180 BCE to 10 CE, practiced Greco-Buddhism. Buddhist shrines and monasteries were set up on the Silk Road and these places had monks who preached Buddhism to locals and travelers. Over the centuries, merchants played an increasingly large role in the spread of Buddhist teachings and in exchange for their support, Buddhist monasteries offered them a place to stay as they moved along the Silk Road.  By the first century BCE, the Greek kingdoms of Central Asia were Greco-Buddhist, and the stage was set at this time for Buddhism to spread far and wide to the West and East via travellers on the Silk Road.

In the 3rd century BCE, the Indian Emperor Asoka sent Buddhist missionaries to all parts of India and beyond up to the Mediterranean. Even several decades prior to Emperor Asoka’s reign, there were Buddhist missionaries spreading the teachings of the Buddha over all parts of Asia, including Egypt.  Edicts of Asoka set on stone, some written in Greek, confirm that Buddhist emissaries were sent by Asoka to Greek lands in Asia and the Mediterranean. Buddhism was the first of the major missionary religions to expand its influence through travel on the Silk Road. By the 1st century BCE, Buddhism had spread to lands now known as Afghanistan, Pakistan and countries further west.

Historical evidence indicates that Jesus knew about Buddhism, because in his early years, he lived in Judea, the southern region of ancient Palestine, which was an important cosmopolitan shipping center for trade between India and the West. The overland routes from Judea extending to Persia and western India were especially active after the invasion and occupation of western India by Alexander the Great in 330 BCE.  During Jesus’ time, Judea was a Roman dominion and being the wealthiest empire of the time, Rome had trade connections with India and other places in central Asia. Most of this trade reached the Mediterranean through Judea making it a cosmopolitan shipping center. Most traders exchanged information of places, people, and events along their routes. Inevitably, Buddhism was well known to the people in Judea and Buddhists settled in northern Arabia, including Judea. There were many Jewish settlements established during and after Alexander’s invasion of the East, especially along the invasion route through Persia and what is now Afghanistan and Kashmir/Punjab. This was a practice encouraged by Alexander to maintain his empire.

Given these East-West trade and settlement patterns, Jesus inevitably would have been exposed to Buddhism and there is the possibility that Jesus would have known about Buddhism as a teenager. The Bible makes no mention of where the young Jesus lived and provides no account of Jesus’ lost years between ages thirteen and twenty-nine. If Jesus was lost, where was he? Nonbiblical historical accounts indicate that Jesus traveled outside Judea. Old Muslim records refer to Jesus as the “traveling prophet” and as the “chief of travelers.” The more Jesus traveled about, the more he would have encountered Buddhist ideas. If he traveled outside Judea, especially to Mesopotamia, his exposure to Buddhist-influenced groups is inevitable. Historic evidence shows that by the 3rd century BCE, Buddhism has spread throughout Mesopotamia which was the region situated within the Tigris–Euphrates river system in West Asia.

The biblical silence about Jesus’ lost years is one of the strangest hiatuses in history. It is a total silence about one of the greatest personalities in human history, covering seventeen years of the life of Jesus, between the ages of twelve and twenty-nine. From the second century CE, onwards until about the turn of the twentieth century, when the question of Jesus’s travels as a young man was raised by Nicolas Notovitch, the church of Christ was destroying every piece of evidence of the life of Jesus Christ that did not support its doctrines. The doctrine of the church was that Jesus started his own religion as the Son of God. Any evidence not supporting this view was condemned. Therefore, the travels of Jesus and his exposure to Buddhism could not be acknowledged under any circumstances by the church. Hence, the inexplicable lost years of Jesus.

Nicolas Notovitch as he was called in the West, was in actual fact a Jewish Russian known as Nikolai Aleksandrovich Notovich, born in 1858, known for his 1894 book published in 1894, disclosing that Jesus left Galilee for India during the unknown early years of his life, and studied with Buddhists and Hindus before returning to Judea when he was 29 years of age. His observation was based on a document he had seen at the Hemis Monastery that he had visited in India. This was a Tibetan Buddhist  monastery located in HemisLadakhIndia. Although Notovitch had been discredited in Europe for his proclamations on Jesus’s early life, subsequent research led to its confirmation.

Swami Abhedananda, a contemporary and colleague of the famed Swami Vivekananda, visited the Hemis monastery in 1922 to confirm the reports of Notovich that he had heard the previous year in the USA. The lamas at the monastery confirmed to him that Notovich visited the monastery and that the manuscript on Jesus Christ was shown to Notovich and its contents were interpreted to him, so that he could translate them into Russian. The original manuscript was in Pali in the monastery of Marbour near Lhasa. The manuscript preserved at Hemis was in Tibetan. Swami Abhedananda himself was shown the manuscript, which had 14 chapters containing 223 couplets (slokas). The Swami got some portions of the manuscript translated with the help of a lama, about 40 verses appearing in the Swami’s travelogue. According to the manuscript Jesus Christ came secretly to Kashmir and lived in a monastery surrounded by many disciples. The original manuscript in Pali was prepared “three or four years” after Christ’s death, based on reports by local Tibetans and the accounts from wandering merchants regarding his crucifixion. In 1927, the manuscript was published serially in Visvavani, a monthly publication of the Ramakrishna Vedanta Samiti, and subsequently published in a book form in Bengali. The fifth edition of the book in English was published in 1987, which also contains as an Appendix, an English translation of Notovich’s book titled Life of Saint Issa.

Another author named Elizabeth Clare Prophet, in her book titled The Lost Years of Jesus: Documentary Evidence of Jesus’ 17-Year Journey to the East, asserts that Buddhist manuscripts provide evidence that Jesus traveled to India, Nepal, Ladakh and Tibet. In his book titled Jesus lived in India, a German author namedHolger Kersten, makes a thorough, methodical  and authoritative examination of the evidence of Jesus Christ’s life beyond the Middle East, in India, before crucifixion and again in Kashmir India after it where he arrived with Mother Mary. After many years in Kashmir, teaching people who venerated him as a great prophet and saint. His death and entombment were in Kashmir. Jesus travelled to Kashmir via Turkey and Persia. Holger Kersten cites ancient stories in Turkey and Persia of a saint called ‘Yus Asaf’ whose behavior and teachings are remarkably similar to that of Christ. Kersten claims that there are more than twenty-one historical documents that bear witness to the existence of Jesus in Kashmir, where he was known also as Yuz Asaf and Issa.

It is possible that Jesus travelled extensively throughout Asia which increased his exposure to Buddhism. His travel is indicated by the many records found in India and China. Textual evidence shows that Buddhism not only had spread West through the Silk Road travelers and contacts between East and West from conquests of Alexander, but also had been deliberately propagated through emissaries sent from India during the 3rd century BCE. This influence is revealed both by the actions and statements of Jesus Christ and by the Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah, a term derived from Sanskrit, which means “Maithri” (the future Buddha of this world). Jesus revealed to Peter information about his life, which Peter passed over to Matthieu and Luke. Most of what Jesus Christ said is confined to the gospels of Matthieu, Mark, Luke and John were said more than five hundred years earlier by the Buddha. Much of what Jesus Christ did was done more than five hundred years earlier by the Buddha. What Jesus Christ said is explicit in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Therefore, educated and trained as a Buddhist, Jesus spoke and acted like a Buddhist.

Numerous scholars long ago discovered Buddhistic elements in the Gospel of John and recognized the Buddhistic background of Essenism, by which Jesus was greatly influenced. Essenes was an ascetic Jewish sect or a monastic brotherhood of Jews in Palestine that existed from the 2nd century BCE to 2ndcentury CE. There are strong similarities between Buddhist monastic teachings and Jewish ascetic sects, such as the Essenes, that were part of the spiritual environment of Palestine at the time of Christ’s birth. The Gospel of John, is one of the four canonical gospels in the New Testament along with the Gospels of MatthewMark, and Luke, all written between 65 and 95 century CE. John was one of Jesus’ Twelve Apostles and the Gospel of John was considered in ancient times to be the “spiritual Gospel,” and it wielded a profound and lasting influence on the development of early Christian doctrine. The conclusion is inescapable that Palestine, together with many other parts of Asia Minor, was inundated with Buddhistic propaganda for two centuries before Christ.

Given the foregoing plausible evidence, it is possible that Jesus Christ was a Buddhist, perhaps a Bodhisattva or an Enlightened Being with a compassionate determination to help others on their quest for the highest state of spiritual development. Nineteenth century Christian missionaries in India translated and read ancient Buddhist Sanskrit and Pali documents in India and ironically, referred to Buddhism as the Christianity of the East. But the real fact is that Christianity is Buddhism of the West because Buddhism existed five hundred years before Jesus Christ.

White supremacist mentality pervades orders by UNHRC for hybrid court for Sri Lanka

White supremacist mentality pervades orders by UNHRC for hybrid court for Sri Lanka
Posted on March 22nd, 2018

What can we make out of a global entity claiming to be the custodians of peace, justice and equality towards all member states, refusing to accept evidence, denies to investigate requests & appeals & completely ignores appeals by citizens of member states? Well, if the global entity is the UN and the aggrieved member states are from the Third World, then it’s a one-way street because the UN is steered by white-supremacists & their local worshippers and there’s nothing the black, brown or yellow people can do, unless they unite & refuse to be re-colonized & return to the days where white rule of bloodshed, plunder & persecutions prevailed.

Black nations are being hounded by the ICC and nations of Asia by the UNHRC. Bloc nations in the UN in the form of the EU & OIC get away with the might of their money, political & trade advantage, population & religious outreach leaving all others prey to the UN system & international NGO network.

Countries that make profit from arms manufacture also makes sure there are plenty of conflicts to sell arms generally to both parties. Peace doves in the form of UN peace keepers, NGO organizations replace the traditional intelligence operatives who are sent to register under various missions/visions with the goal of collecting data & statistics to be used for various future strategic/tactical operations against any state that does not conform to the wish of the powerful nations. Assassinations of leaders, using subtle methods to buy over politicians (money, sexual weakness etc), state officials, influencing & roping in academics, media and any other locals who may pose a threat to their overall plans are orchestrated with precision and plenty of funding despatched for the purpose.

The arm twisting & diplomatic bullying is just a carry forward of how the white nations ruled over the world for over 500 years under colonial rule. Let’s not forget that every law that everyone has to currently abide by is what these white nations approved & sanctioned to use. All the indigenous laws, cultures & systems were completely ignored when international laws & regulations were drafted. It is only the OIC majority Muslim states that continue to resist international laws & continue to apply archaic laws associated with their faith. All other nations have had no choice but to nod agreement to and will not dare question why their traditional & indigenous laws, systems & cultures are being ignored & they are forced to follow something foreign which the natives opposed and sacrificed their lives during colonial rule. The West has been quick to formulate their own defence through local Kalu-Suddas or sepoys willing worshippers of anything imported from West.

The plantation system was the first major system used by the colonial forces in their violent transformation of the Earth into land, people into property, and nature into a commodity – all to be sold on the fair” market.” …..Ever since the colonial era, racialized structures have continued producing racialized outcomes biased in favor of whites and against darker skinned people, in the food system as well as outside of it. (Blain Snipstal)

Having taken stock of the reactions of the natives and studied the mentality of the natives the West has over the years implemented enough of programs especially on brainwashing & influencing the enemy. Therefore, they have enough of ways & means to subjugate the enemy.

What is currently taking place using the UN & its puppets in office is the virtual return of white supremacy in virtually all domains of national governance. The calls for hybrid court is nothing but a message that ‘you locals are not good enough, and we west have the right to rule over you’. The rejection of local judges in place of foreign judges connotes the same message. If the judiciary, law, penal codes are all being changed and nations are losing the Westphalian sovereign rights why not have hybrid legislation and dethrone the nincompoops in Parliament too…. We have had enough of their treacherous and corrupt rule anyways. Not that there is no corruption in the West in government or private sectors, in fact the West are the one’s that taught the rest of the world how to loot.

However, Sri Lankan citizens are aghast & many who are listening to Admiral Sarath Weerasekera & the Global Sri Lankan Forum Team battle out inside the halls of the UNHRC with legally sound arguments & evidence against the UNHRC Resolutions, must all be wondering why the UN & the world are not listening to the other side & accepting only the version of terrorists. Of course, the LTTE global kitty has bought a lot of influence, but over and above that we all need to understand that Sri Lanka is vulnerable at political & trade levels simply because of its geographical positioning. Countries eye Sri Lanka because it sees potential that our leaders do not see, refuse to see or they see but prefer to barter it for their personal gains instead of nurture it for the citizens and posterity.

At another more important & ignored level to understand why these Western bloc nations are going on a witch hunt against Sri Lanka with fabrications, cooked up stories & well-funded reports is that these countries continue to be plagued with the thought that ‘we are better’ and ‘our job is to civilize you’, remember the ‘white man’s burden’ version by Kipling. That very much prevails still. Let’s also not forget that these white nations were very angry that their calls to stop the military onslaught and refrain from defeating the LTTE was not adhered to. Revenge has been very much in line with all of the successive resolutions and threats accompanying these UN orders.

Joseph Parrott writing to the Washington Post How white supremacy went global” has explained the scenario & excerpts will provide clues for us to understand the nature of the global decisions being made through the UN & diplomatically.

their Protestant religion, national ingenuity and unmatched military power established their right to conquer and manage the world.”

leaders of the United States and the British Empire embraced the belief that Anglo-Saxons had a duty to educate backward civilizations in Christianity, Western modernity and capitalism.”

Tragically, national leaders representing the black, brown & yellow man have failed to stand up against the white supremacy. They have not understood the numerical dynamics of the Third World out numbering a handful of white nations bullying the rest of the world using money, arms & political influence through systems they have created & representatives they have appointed on their behalf. Standing up against the white supremacy is not to replace white with non-white rule but to clearly establish that justice means justice, equality should mean equality and it should not be in the format that the UN system currently dishes out to the rest of the world playing pied piper to the EU & OIC bloc of nations.

Thankfully Japan has said there is no requirement for foreign judges, can the rest of the Third World look at the evidence presented by the Global Sri Lanka Forum instead of relying on lies & distortions by LTTE terrorists & those that survive on LTTE money!

How secular is the West?

How secular is the West?
Posted on March 23rd, 2018

Of late there have been quite a number of know-it-all ‘academics’ ‘political analysts’ dollar earning civil society coming forward promoting the displacement of Buddhism enshrined in Article 9 to be replaced with a ‘secular’ constitution in Sri Lanka. They love to quote extensively how West is secular. If readers were wiser they would look for themselves & discover that a majority of Western nations are not in the least secular though they publicly profess to be so. What also needs to be reiterated that some of these professing to be secular countries have a history of less than 300 years having stolen lands from the indigenous & created a country on Christian ideology. Are those professing ‘secular’ tag for Sri Lanka ignorant of ground realities or are they simply carrying out an agenda on behalf of nations who wish to completely abolish the historical, cultural ethno-religious identity of non-Christian countries.

Brazil

  • “We, the representatives of the Brazilian People, … promulgate, under the protection of God, this CONSTITUTION OF THE FEDERATIVE REPUBLIC OF BRAZIL.”

Switzerland

  • “In the name of Almighty God! The Swiss People and the Cantons (…) adopt the following Constitution”

These are the countries insisting Sri Lanka remove the place of Buddhism from its constitution. Some of these countries have hardly 300 years of history, most of these countries were created after stealing lands from the indigenous and we have a history of over 2600 years!

Co-existing with the notion of secular state is the notion of neutrality. Is neutrality possible? No person is not without bias of some form or the other. No one can be 100% neutral.

Those peddling for the secular tag are in fact using the secular slogan to promote concepts that non-secular states would find taboo…for example special status for homosexuality, gay marriage etc…while no one is stopped from being homosexual, non-secular states does not advocate open display of homosexuality but it is nothing homosexuals need to complain about since they enjoy homosexual lives privately.

No one can plug terms & concepts and expect people to comply with them. No new theories can be dropped from the sky and enforced legally forcing citizens that have been carrying centuries old customs and cultures to forget or erase. What is unfair & uncouth is that elements promoting secular changes are adopting multipronged programs to destroy cultures and value systems of countries and using the podium of media to run well-funded campaigns to claim that a country does not have any meaningful values to protect & foster and therefore the proposed secular programs should be adopted.

Therefore when groups land promoting new faiths, trying to ruin lives of children as young as 3 claiming to educate them on ‘homosexualty & lesbian’ rights, parents in Sri Lanka should not only worry but gather to refuse to allow their children to be subject to these brainwashing experiments.

Then at another end you find countries that have been more than accommodative are now up in arms against multiculturalism claiming that every rights & freedoms are being misused and abused and immigrants are not assimilating to society while they are creating ghetto areas where whites are now shunned from and have to retreat to more peaceful areas. This has given rise to fundamental Christian groups and in large measure contributed to Brexit.

We must be intelligent enough to realize that these experiments have done countries no good and a nation needs to remain linked to its ancient past, history, heritage culture, values etc. Anyone wanting to adopt foreign cultures may as well go and live in countries where those cultures are part of that countries heritage, they have no right to force them upon citizens who wish to remain tied to their roots.

Enforce One Law & Eliminate Extremism in Sri Lanka

Enforce One Law & Eliminate Extremism in Sri Lanka
Posted on March 14th, 2018

A country must have one common law equal to all & followed by all. Those who set laws must also follow the laws they set. No one can be above the law of the land. While there should be an agreeable set of common laws, we can accept some special privileges but who enjoys these special privileges and why must be made clear. However, this cannot warrant the handful who have special immunity to do as they like. It is the lack of implementing the rule of law without bias while also implementing law with bias that has created all the problems that prevail in Sri Lanka.

People must be aware of the laws & punitive actions for its violations. People must also feel confident that violators are punished without bias. Only then people will learn to respect the laws but also abide by them.

At all times the authorities must address the Actions & Actors of an incident not the Reaction or Reactors.

What is presently happening is that laws have become a sham because not only are they broken by the very persons preaching for good governance but they arrest and punish only targeted and select people.

Traffic laws are often broken by the very rich and police are reluctant to even arrest them knowing that a phone call would entail their release. Letting off an ordinary person for a minor traffic offence is nowhere near allowing a murderer & thief free however rich/poor, influential or not he/she is!

Accumulated similar incidents create anger in people and make them susceptible to external elements who want to play mischief.

These are the instances that lead to riots and violence because people are frustrated when there is selective justice. This results in fringe groups appearing taking the law into their hands. The situation is made worse when authorities take action against only them completely ignoring the other players who instigated the reaction.

Having said that, all are searching for the reasons for extremism. Before that we need to know what the extremisms are.

The below list is compiled having sought views of both minorities & majority and can be used as a basis to eliminate extremism.

Tamil extremism

  1. Attempts to separate Sri Lanka using fictitious reasons by Tamil leaders
  2. Deeming North and even East Sri Lanka to be home to ONLY Tamils hurtful statements by Tamil leaders that Sinhalese are not welcome
  3. Tamil leaders banning Tamils from marrying Sinhalese
  4. Internationally carrying out a campaign claiming ‘colonization’ when use of such terms conflicts with the constitutionally given fundamental right for citizens of Sri Lanka right to live wherever they like
  5. Statement by Tamil leaders to the effect that Buddhist sites/structures should be removed which has given justification for mischief makers to destroy historic & heritage sites. This constitutes cultural genocide
  6. Thesawalamai law introduced by the Dutch which denies right for non-Tamils to purchase lands in Jaffna infringes on the fundamental rights in the constitution giving citizens to right to live & purchase property.
  7. Violation of archaeological & national reserve laws by erecting structures with purposeful intent to destroy or remove remnants of artefacts that proof ancient Sinhala Buddhist ruins existed.
  8. Lies and distortions against Sri Lanka’s Armed Forces

Muslim extremism

When all citizens had to follow one law, Muslim minority saw fit to demand special privileged laws for themselves – these are new customs and trends emerging after 1980s and forced upon the Sri Lankan community on the guise of religious freedom.

Examples of which are

  1. Influence of Wahhabism cult which is now considered a global security threat
  2. Mandatory for all citizens to come under one common law & to be treated equally under Constitution of Sri Lanka & Penal Codes in place, however some Muslims are demanding Shariah law, Quazi Courts (rulings to be above that of the country law)
  3. Marrying children is a criminal offence but some Muslims demand to marry children
  4. Female genital mutilation is a criminal offence but Muslims demand its practice
  5. Marrying more than one person at a time is a criminal offence (Polygamy) but Muslims demand marrying 4 or more women
  6. Legal rights enjoyed by non-Muslim divorced women are not enjoyed by Muslim women
  7. Setting up of Arabic schools/universities as funds are pouring from Arab world when Muslims do not even speak Arabic.
  8. When a statutory body to measure quality & standard of foods exist demand for a Shariah compliant Halal food labeling system based on one minority religion emerged that forced non-Muslim companies to divulge ingredients of their food items and insisted that for a fee paid to a Muslim NGO they would have to label foods consumed locally & exported overseas. Such a system did not exist before. This labeling system continues and questions why a minority religious labeling system for a fee should be charged of all especially non-Muslims.
  9. Violation of archaeological & national reserve laws. Cutting forests/trees is a crime but a Muslim MP is disregarding all laws & settling only one ethnic group inspite even the Presidents intervention and assurance that the forests would not be endangered.
  10. Driving without helmets is a criminal offence for all, but Muslims ride without helmets & no action taken by authorities.
  11. It is mandatory for all citizens to show their face when entering public places (banks, ATM etc) but Muslims are now wearing clothes that even cover the face
  12. When it is statutory to remove full face helmets citing threats to national security, some Muslim women are driving vehicles fully covered in black making distinction impossible. There have been plenty of instances where men dressed as women in robes have robbed banks and homes! Some Muslims are even demanding to sit for public exams in robes where there is a big question mark as to who is sitting the paper when the identity is not revealed and no one can question the identity too. Some Muslims are even demanding NIC photos to be with fully covered photos when all others have strict rules & regulations to follow for the photo to be accepted for NIC or Passport (showing no teeth, clear distinction of one’s ear)
  13. When there is a common banking system for all citizens, some Muslims have insisted and included Shariah Banking/Islamic banking systems that even non-Muslim banks both private & public have had to adopt.
  14. When the Government & private NGOs are encouraging planned parenthood and non-Muslim women are coerced into stopping having children after the birth of the second child, Muslims are being encouraged to have more and more children and many fear this calculated into future years spells demographic change.
  15. Biased judgments – men belonging to an ethno-religious minority with petrol bombs arrested and brought before the magistrate who belonged to same ethno-religion but were immediately released on bail however when unarmed men belonging to the majority faith who were attending a funeral of a victim of the recent clashes were brought before the same magistrate and remanded. Such biased judgements are reasons for animosity. These need to be addressed immediately. If the police, lawyers, judges, magistrates did their job fairly and without bias half of all problems would be solved.
  16. It is also alleged that the allocation of school uniform vouchers for Sinhalese children is less than half of what is given to Muslims.
  17. Coercive methods used to convert non-Muslims.
  18. Black money as a result of illegal narcotic trade

Christian/Catholic extremism

  1. Violation of archaeological & national reserve laws by erecting structures with purposeful intent to destroy or remove remnants of artefacts that proof ancient Sinhala Buddhist ruins.
  2. Setting up faith healing centres in residential areas & adopting coercive methods of conversions especially in poverty stricken rural areas
  3. Christian dominated media/newspapers/websites/journalists fanning communal flames using their pen

Sinhala extremism

  1. Objecting to separating/dividing the country
  2. Claiming there is no Tamil Homeland.
  3. Objecting to Islamization of Sri Lanka having connected the dots in the speed in which mosques are proliferating, Muslim population is increasing (refer census statistics), shariah food labelling, shariah laws, banking, insistence of halal food at all hotels, catering etc, rise in fundamentalism seen by wahhabi influence prevailing over moderate Muslims who lived peacefully previously
  4. Objecting to unethical, biased, anti-Buddhist media coverage with examples
  5. Appealing against surrounding Buddhist heritage sites with mosques, churches which end up dominating the area using influence of money.
  6. Objecting to turning Buddhist heritage of Sri Lanka into a failed multicultural land when the countries that first implemented multiculturalism is now realizing it’s a total failure & reversing it. Attempts to put up mosque in SriPada, the insidious manner a minaret taller than the Dalada Maligawa is being stealthily planned giving various inducements to the temple & other influential parties to give approvals.
  7. Objecting to animal sacrifice creating an animal friendly society, wanting return of the Dasa Raja Dhamma rule as existing prior to arrival of colonials

Government & Public Service/Private Sector

Majority politicians break laws for votes & monetary influences, public servants do same. This has created unwanted & unnecessary problems and these must now be directly identified and addressed.

Those enjoying illegal benefit cannot cry foul and avoid or impede the veto of these illegalities crying foul and hiding behind slogans of hate speech, racism, discrimination etc.

Therefore, it is good to place the existing laws & against that list the violations and demand that the Government immediately addresses & take action

  1. Illegal religious structures often in residential areas
  2. Inaction by authorities against religious sects that lease/rent houses and with time turn/convert these into prayer centres or madrassas and then cry foul claiming discrimination when complaints are made asking for their removal.
  3. Proliferation of mosques, churches, prayer centres, kovils not in proportion to the pollution of an area. The Government must immediately address this violation & declare a moratorium on construction of religious/faith-based sites as is being done in other countries where this same menace has emerged.
  4. Usage of loudspeakers – inspite of an interim court order which needs to be seriously looked into
  5. Communalism of newspapers responsible for division of People was one of the conclusions of the Press Commission Report of 1964. Present local newspapers stand guilty of tuning their stories to fan communal tensions by generating false conclusions and assumptions against the majority.
  6. No one should confuse free speech with hate speech. If at all what constitutes hate speech must first be clearly defined before authorities deem it fit to take selective action as is taking place presently. A perfect instance is the arrest of 2 schoolboys and keeping them in remand while arresting but releasing men who had petrol bombs in their hands. The allegation of hate speech against the 2 youth is nowhere near a threat as men holding petrol bombs. This highlights some of the biased decisions taken. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z36TBNv3j3A
